LinkedIn Ads video requirements

LinkedIn video ads must be MP4 files with H.264 or VP8 video, up to 500 MB, 3 s–30 min long, at a frame rate of up to 30 fps and with an aspect ratio between 9:16 and 16:9. LinkedIn recommends 30 s or less so the video qualifies for every placement across the feed and the Audience Network, and in-stream ads can be up to 90 s. The file must be uploaded to LinkedIn itself, from a desktop, not linked from YouTube or Vimeo.

Placement

Your file stays on your device: nothing is uploaded.

LinkedIn Ads video requirements

The feed and in-stream columns share one file table; only the length differs. LinkedIn says in-stream video ads are in testing and released gradually.

What LinkedIn asks of video ads

Video ad in the feed

  • Upload the video file to LinkedIn itself: a link to YouTube or Vimeo is not embedded.[1]
  • Apple ProRes is not supported.[1]
  • A video under 30 seconds loops until it has played for at least 30 seconds; a longer one plays once.[1]
  • Captions must be an SRT file with plain text only: no custom formatting.[1]
  • The same specs apply when you sponsor an existing organic video post as an ad.[1]

In-stream video ad

  • Pair a horizontal pre-roll with a horizontal publisher or creator video; a square pre-roll can go with horizontal or vertical.[1]
  • In-stream video ads are in testing and released gradually: you may not have access yet.[1]
  • Upload the video file to LinkedIn itself: a link to YouTube or Vimeo is not embedded.[1]
  • Apple ProRes is not supported.[1]

Questions

What are the LinkedIn video ad specs?

MP4, H.264 or VP8 video, up to 500 MB, 3 s–30 min long and a frame rate of up to 30 fps. The size must be at least 360 px on the short side and at most 1920 px on the long side. If the file has sound, LinkedIn asks for AAC.

How long can a LinkedIn video ad be?

3 s–30 min in the feed; LinkedIn recommends 30 s or less. In-stream video ads can be up to 90 s. A video under 30 seconds loops until it has played that long.

Which aspect ratio works on LinkedIn?

Anything between 9:16 and 16:9. The page lists a horizontal, a square and two vertical sizes, so one export can serve several placements.

Can I use a YouTube link as a LinkedIn video ad?

No. The video must be a file uploaded directly to LinkedIn, not a link to YouTube or Vimeo, and it has to be uploaded from a desktop.

Does a LinkedIn video ad need sound?

LinkedIn doesn’t say that sound is required, so the checker doesn’t flag a silent file. Many people watch with sound off, so captions in an SRT file are worth adding.

Videos for your catalog, starting with one category

Tell us about your catalog, markets and volumes. We make the first videos for one category, so you can compare them with what you have now. Then the same scenarios cover the whole catalog.

  1. Send your products

A product feed, links to product pages or photos for one category.

  2. Agree markets and audiences

Countries, languages, platforms, generations of buyers and the quality threshold.

  3. Get the pilot videos

Localized for each market, checked and ready to post.

  4. Scale to the catalog

Every product, every market and every new arrival, in one style.

We don’t copy other people’s videos. Every video is new and about your product. We keep the mechanics that sell (script, pacing, delivery), not anyone’s footage, people or music.
