TikTok safe zone: template and checker
On a 1080 × 1920 TikTok video, keep text, logos and faces out of the top 240 px (12.5%), the bottom 660 px (34.4%) and 120 px on each side, and clear of the 300 × 1080 px button column on the right that starts at y = 840. These are TikTok’s official numbers for In-Feed ads, scaled from its 720 × 1280 px template; organic videos have the same interface in the same places.
Check your video against the TikTok safe zone
TikTok draws its tabs, buttons, caption and, in ads, a call-to-action button over your video. See where they land on your own footage, then download a template for your editor.
Your file stays on your device: nothing is uploaded.
Interface shapes are schematic: they show where the app’s buttons and text sit, not how they look. Red areas are the platform’s unsafe zones.
Turn on JavaScript to check your own video. The template above and the numbers below work without it.

What covers each edge
- Top: feed tabs, search
- Right side: profile photo, like, comments, save, share, sound disc
- Bottom: username, caption, sound name, ad label, call-to-action button (ads), product link (ads with a product link), app menu bar
What to keep inside the safe zone
- LogoTop left of the safe area: at least 240 px down, below the feed tabs, and 120 px in from the edge.
- ProductCenter of the frame, above y = 1260. Lower down, the username, caption and sound name cover it.
- Price and offerUpper half of the frame, large. The bottom 34.4% belongs to the caption and, in ads, to TikTok’s button.
- SubtitlesLast line above y = 1260. Below y = 840, end lines before x = 780, where the like and share buttons start.
- FaceUpper part of the frame and away from the right edge: from y = 840 down, the profile photo and buttons sit there.
- Call to actionSay or show it in the middle of the frame. In ads, TikTok puts its own button at the bottom, over anything you place there.
How the TikTok safe zone changes
TikTok says the safe zone depends on the format, the length of the ad caption and any extra formats. It publishes separate template files for standard In-Feed ads, for ads with a product link (anchor) and for the Arabic region.
With a product link, the bottom zone grows to 812 px for a one-line caption and to 1014 px for four lines, and the button column widens to 240 px from y = 360 down.
For Arabic, TikTok’s template is mirrored: the button column is on the left. Turn on the Arabic layout in the checker to see it.
Bottom zone of an ad with a product link, by caption length
| Caption lines | Bottom zone | Lowest safe line (y) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 812 px42.3% | y = 1108 |
| 2 | 878 px45.7% | y = 1042 |
| 3 | 946 px49.3% | y = 974 |
| 4 | 1014 px52.8% | y = 906 |
Common mistakes
- Subtitles at the very bottom, as in a landscape video: on TikTok the caption and the sound name sit right on top of them.
- A price or a discount in the lower right corner: the like, comment and share buttons cover a 300 × 1080 px block there.
- One template for every ad: with a product link the bottom zone grows from 660 px to 812 px, and more with every caption line.
- Forgetting right-to-left markets: in Arabic the buttons move to the left, so text along the left edge of the lower half ends up under them.
Questions
What is the TikTok safe zone size?
On a 1080 × 1920 frame: 240 px at the top, 660 px at the bottom, 120 px on the left and right, and a 300 × 1080 px button column on the right from y = 840 down. The largest clear rectangle is 660 × 1020 px, starting 120 px from the left and 240 px from the top.
Is the safe zone different for organic TikTok videos and ads?
TikTok publishes safe zone files only for ads. Organic videos show the same tabs, buttons, username and caption in the same places, without the ad label and the button, so the ad zone is the safe choice for both.
How does a product link (anchor) change the safe zone?
It adds a product bar above the username. TikTok’s anchor template moves the top line to 252 px, widens the button column to 240 px from y = 360, and raises the bottom zone to 812 px with a one-line caption, up to 1014 px with four lines.
Is the safe zone different for Arabic ads?
Yes. TikTok publishes a mirrored right-to-left template for the Arabic region: the button column is on the left, everything else stays the same. All other regions use the standard file.
What resolution should a TikTok video have?
9:16. TikTok accepts vertical ads from 540 × 960 px; 1080 × 1920 is the usual export size. The zone scales with the frame: TikTok draws its template for 720 × 1280 px, and the numbers on this page are that template at 1080 × 1920.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The checker runs in your browser: the file opens on your device and is never sent to Quelta or anyone else.
