Amazon product video requirements

Amazon accepts product detail page videos as MOV or MP4 files of up to 5 GB, in 16:9 or 9:16 and up to 1080 px on the short side; its help page lists a length of 1–12 min. Sponsored Brands video ads are stricter: 6–45 s, up to 500 MB, exactly 1280 × 720, 1920 × 1080 or 3840 × 2160 at 16:9, and a video bitrate of at least 1 Mbit/s.

Amazon video requirements

Product detail page videos are uploaded in Seller Central. Sponsored Brands video ads are created in the Amazon Ads console and have their own, stricter specs.

RequirementProduct detail page videoSponsored Brands video ad
File format MOV or MP4[1] MP4 or MOV[5]
Video codec Not published H.264 or H.265 (HEVC)[5]
Length 1–12 min[1] Amazon’s seller blog recommends shorter videos and shows approved examples under a minute. The checker treats shorter videos as a warning, not a failure. 6–45 s; 20 s or less recommended[5]
Resolution up to 1080 px on the short side[1] Amazon gives only an upper limit, no minimum. 1280 × 720, 1920 × 1080 or 3840 × 2160[5]
Aspect ratio 16:9 or 9:16[1] 16:9[5] An Amazon Ads guide mentions vertical video too, but the spec sheet allows only this ratio and gives no vertical sizes.
File size up to 5 GB[1] up to 500 MB[5]
Frame rate Not published 23.976, 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 29.98 or 30 fps[5]
Sound Not published Optional[5]
Audio codec Not published PCM, AAC or MP3[5]
Video bitrate Not published at least 1 Mbit/s; 4 Mbit/s or more recommended[5]
Audio bitrate Not published at least 96 kbit/s[5]
Audio sample rate Not published at least 44.1 kHz[5]

Numbers come from the platform’s own help pages (sources below). Where the platform says nothing publicly, the cell says “Not published” and the checker skips that rule.

  • No promotional content.[1]
  • No phone numbers, email addresses or other personal contact details.[2]
  • No misleading claims or incorrect information.[1]
  • It shouldn’t look like a commercial or be about your company’s brand: show the product.[3]
  • No music or artwork you don’t have the rights to.[1]
  • No visible branding of other companies.[1]
  • No blurry or low-quality footage.[1]

  • Amazon shows the reason in Upload and Manage Videos: open Manage next to a video with the status Rejected.[4]
  • External links or URLs in the video.[1]
  • Promotional calls to action.[1]
  • The video breaks the rules of the product category.[1]
  • An upload error usually means the file is outside the technical limits: format, size, resolution or length.[1]

Sponsored Brands video ad

  • Ads that break Amazon’s creative acceptance policies aren’t accepted.[5]
  • Ads in a language that doesn’t match the marketplace are removed.[8]

Questions

How long can an Amazon product video be?

Seller Central help lists 1–12 min for product detail page videos, in a file of up to 5 GB. Amazon’s seller blog recommends keeping videos short and shows approved examples under a minute, so the lower limit doesn’t look strict. Sponsored Brands video ads must be 6–45 s, and Amazon recommends 20 s or less.

What resolution and aspect ratio does Amazon need?

Product detail page videos: 16:9 or 9:16, up to 1080 px on the short side. Sponsored Brands video ads: exactly 1280 × 720, 1920 × 1080 or 3840 × 2160, 16:9 only, with no black bars.

Can an Amazon product video have no sound?

Yes. Amazon doesn’t require sound in product detail page videos, and Sponsored Brands allows silent videos too: the mute button is then hidden. If an ad has sound, use PCM, AAC or MP3, with an audio bitrate of at least 96 kbit/s and a sample rate of at least 44.1 kHz.

Why was my Amazon video rejected?

The reason is shown in Upload and Manage Videos under Manage. The most common ones: links or URLs in the video, promotional calls to action, or content that breaks the category rules. An error during upload usually means the file is outside the technical limits: format, size, resolution or length. Run the file through the check above to see which.

Do I need Brand Registry to upload product videos?

Not for product detail page videos: Amazon asks for a Professional selling account with at least 3 months of selling history. Sponsored Brands video ads are only for brands enrolled in Brand Registry.

Do AI-generated videos need a label on Amazon?

If a video shows photorealistic AI-generated people, Amazon asks you to tag the file before upload: add the keyword contains-synthetic-performer to the XMP dc:subject field of its metadata.

Quelta for catalogs

Need videos like this for your whole catalog?

Quelta makes product videos from your photos, adapted for each of your markets by meaning, not just by words, and checked before delivery. Start with a pilot on one category.

Videos for your catalog, starting with one category

Tell us about your catalog, markets and volumes. We make the first videos for one category, so you can compare them with what you have now. Then the same scenarios cover the whole catalog.

  1. Send your products

A product feed, links to product pages or photos for one category.

  2. Agree markets and audiences

Countries, languages, platforms, generations of buyers and the quality threshold.

  3. Get the pilot videos

Localized for each market, checked and ready to post.

  4. Scale to the catalog

Every product, every market and every new arrival, in one style.

We don’t copy other people’s videos. Every video is new and about your product. We keep the mechanics that sell (script, pacing, delivery), not anyone’s footage, people or music.
